Introducing The Zodiac Book Club: Where Astrology Meets Storytelling
Saturday night, TikTok was gone. By Sunday afternoon, it was back. Yesterday was MLK Day, and somehow, Trump’s in office again. At this point, what’s left to do but read?
For real, though—the last time The Big Don was in office, I was navigating the whirlwind of becoming a new mom, moving to West Africa, and weathering the arrival of COVID. A lot has changed since then, both in my world and the collective one. Yet, certain themes remain.
In my recent post, (ins and outs) so this is 9?, I hinted at a big transition: The Zodiac Collective is out, and I’m thrilled to introduce my new long-form series, The Zodiac Book Club!
As an avid reader who devoured 135 books last year, I’m excited to be more intentional in exploring new genres this year. And what better way to do that than in community with like-minded stargazers? This collective is designed for us to merge our love of astrology with the transformative power of stories. Together, we’ll dive into the themes of the zodiac seasons and uncover how the lessons of the stars manifest in the narratives we read.
Why the shift? Because I see how often people get stuck between theory and no action with astrology. The lessons of the zodiac seasons aren’t just abstract ideas; they’re actionable truths meant to guide us. This book club is our space to embody those truths and deepen our understanding of ourselves and the cosmos.
And what better moment to begin than now?
Ego death is the theme of this 9-year—a time for endings, letting go, and tying up loose ends. Already, these shifts are showing up everywhere. Take TikTok influencers, for example—many thrived on the platform, betting everything on it. Now, with TikTok’s future uncertain, their lives are shaken. The grief comes from believing there was only one path forward.
On a larger scale, Trump’s inauguration symbolizes an ego death for our nation—a stark reminder that no matter our efforts, there’s a force working against us. It’s time to stop falling for illusions of hierarchy. At the bottom, we’re all in the same place, while those at the top keep moving without us. Imagine the power we’d wield if we truly united.
Ego death clears the way for authenticity. It asks us to step back from the noise of our identity and ask, What is truly happening within me? For me, journaling and reading were essential tools in this process. They sharpened my discernment, helping me see beyond surface-level reactions and align with my deeper truths.
This is the gift of books—they guide us inward and outward, offering lessons that transcend personal experience. Could this be their greatest power?
